As we had previously informed, resulting from the continuous attacks, carriers continue to reroute many cargo ships around the Cape of Good Hope to ensure the safety of crew, cargo, and vessels. As of January 3, 2024, more than 260 vessels with 3.4 million TEUs have been impacted by delays and\/or rerouting.<\/p>\n

As announced, this situation has led to higher costs for ship owners, resulting in additional surcharges such as the Peak Season Surcharges and “transit disruptions” related surcharges being imposed on the shippers. Additionally, as a result of this change, we anticipate longer transit times, increased nautical miles, and higher fuel consumption. Due to the change in routes and extended transit times, shipping lines may not be able to adhere to their published schedules. This applies to westbound and eastbound traffic, which we anticipate will cause additional delays.<\/p>\n

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
